Why should you reset an Ajax camera?
There are several situations in which resetting a camera may be necessary.
Common reasons are:
the camera no longer responds in the app
the camera can no longer be connected to the network
you want to add the camera to an Ajax hub again
you bought the camera second hand
settings need to be reconfigured
Resetting the camera erases all settings and restores the device to factory settings.
How do you reset an Ajax camera?
Most Ajax cameras can be reset via a reset button on the device.
Step 1: Make sure the camera has power
First, make sure the camera is turned on. This can be done via:
PoE (Power over Ethernet)
a power supply or adapter
Step 2: Find the reset button
The reset button is usually located:
on the bottom of the camera
under a small protective cover
near the connectors of the camera
The button is often small and can be pressed with a paper clip or thin pin.
Step 3: Press and hold the button
Press and hold the reset button for about 10 to 20 seconds while the camera is on.
Step 4: Wait for the camera to reboot
Release the button as soon as the camera reboots. You will often see that:
the status LED changes
the camera tries to reconnect
the camera is reset to the factory settings
Then you can add the camera to your system again.
Ajax camera reset via the app
In some cases, you can also delete and re-add a camera via the Ajax app.
This often works as follows:
Open the Ajax app
Go to the settings of the camera
Remove the device from the system
Add the camera again via the app
This is useful when the camera is still accessible in the system.
Why is my Ajax camera not responding?
When a camera does not respond, it does not necessarily mean that there is a defect. Often it is due to a connection or settings.
Common causes are:
network problems
incorrect settings in the app
a firmware error
problems with the power supply
a conflict in the network
Resetting the camera allows you to redo the setup and many of these problems disappear.
Ajax camera reset after reset
After resetting, the camera must be reset.
Usually this is done through the following steps:
Connecting camera to the network
Open the Ajax app
Add new device
Scanning the QR code of the camera

After that, you can view live camera images again via the app.
